Anyone plan on retarding the exhaust cam 1 deg on the new LT-R450? will it get the gains that the others are getting that are carburated and not EFI? Just curious ?? and will it cause increased exhaust temps? my header already glows a bit.. I personally have never done this, only have read about it...
HELP!

it really depends on the cam grind.

Basicly the YFZ's have a mild grind that is modded

Its worth a try. but sometimes the sweetspot is hard to find. their's happens to be exactly 1 tooth retarded.

I'll more than likely measure the lif and durration when I get a chance and see just about how much it can be retarded then I'll be trying it to see.......

But not all stock cams are made conservative like that... example:
My brothers honda civic bennifited from 4* of exhaust cam retard where my Nissan with a "performance" motor liked a little advance on the Intake cam.

So adjustable cam gears on both intake and exhaust would be the best way to find the "sweet spot".

basicly you change the cam timing to create as much cylinder pressure as possible.

Thanks for the advice.. that all makes sense.. I can say this about my LTR, by how it sounds at idle it has a pretty lobie cam in there.. when you get the measurements and find out something PLEASE let me know..

The RMZ runs more aggresive cam grinds and piston. I've got both ordered! I think the bikes run about 12.5-1 C/R.

So how are they getting the .2 compression gain?

most likely a thinner base gasket. I know on the z400's if you get a drz base gasket from the 400cc bike then you can up your compression around .5 ish

AHH! I thought so. I know on my z400 you could take the cylinder base gasket and take the 2 outer parts off to increase the compression but I think it creats enough hp for me right now. I am working on becoming a better rider plus I don't want to tear into my motor just yet!!!!
