No yellow on it, sorry. I was reading on the clutch thing to but never got a defenite answer on there if it solved the problem.
Problem #1 does sound alot like the infamous fuel filter

Ahh, don't get caught up in cc's. There is way more to it than size of the motor. Yes, I know that particular bike is mostly stock, but in general, cc's is only a piece of the puzzle. I'm not down with the "no replacement for displacement" saying......I know the YFZ's are no joke, the 06's are good bikes. I almost bought one. The thing is he has the 05, that's a 439cc engine not a 449. That's why I was pissed that they keep telling me his YFZ has more HP then my LTR. Mathmatically it's impossible, I just don't think my quad is set up right.

i would say that to me it sounds like an electrical issue, and as for the tires, i've seen alot of races won at dumonts comp hill on sandstars over straight blades-i.e. skat-traks and personally i'm a fan of the sandstars because they seem to take less h.p. to run. i haven't tried a double or triple buff tire that are said to grow under power but if the tire gets taller so does the gearing when combined with a hill equals slower?I just got off the phone with my brother in law. He is out at Pismo with my quad right now and told me of 3 issues it's having. The most important is that when he is going down hill it some times cuts out. He said it's completly random. I was maybe thinking TOS but any other ideas? It acts like it just runs out of gas.
Second is he said it is having trouble starting. He said it happens most the time when it's hot. Trys to start it and just click, like a dead battery. If he turns the key all the way off then back on though it starts back up normal. Is this normal?
Third he has been drag racing a 2005 YFZ 450 and been losing. They are switching off and the YFZ keeps winning. I'm thining WTF since the 05' is a 439. All he has done to it is a Dubach pipe, K&N, no lid, and jetting. I know that's all he has too, good friend. They are telling me who ever gets the hole shot wins the first half but the YFZ has more top end. I'm confused...

Well if sandstars were winning, then the SS bike just had more hp and their gearing was better. I won't trash talk SS's too much as I think they are a decent molded tire. But it is simple, they are heavier and don't hook up as good as a properly matched hauler. You can't just slap any hauler on any bike. It took me a lot of testing to find the one's I like, but it was worth it. Gearing and paddle choice is sooo big. Really takes a lot of time, $$ and testing to find the right fit. And the tire growing again goes with gearing and hp matching the tires just right. If everything works out like it should, when the tires grow, it should be like a variable transmission that never slips... it just keep going faster for you and slows back down when you let off.and as for the tires, i've seen alot of races won at dumonts comp hill on sandstars over straight blades-i.e. skat-traks and personally i'm a fan of the sandstars because they seem to take less h.p. to run. i haven't tried a double or triple buff tire that are said to grow under power but if the tire gets taller so does the gearing when combined with a hill equals slower?
