I was hoping you guys could explane the ems map adjuter from yoshimura. I get what it does, you can make your quad richer, leaner.... But how do you know when to adjust it, is it like on the yfz's where it pops or cuts out, then you adjust it tell it stops, except you use the control instead of digging into the carb?
Thanks a bunch

Yep! That's one way of doing it.

If you want to do it properly though either put it on a dyno or get some sort of wideband oxygen sensor setup so you can see the A/F ratio at a given rpm and adjust from there.

I don't have a dyno anywhere near me so I'm going with the wideband oxygen sensor setup.

It is a sensor you stick down your exhaust pipe up into the head pipe (usually folks attach the sensor to a copper rod allowing you to stick it down the pipe), the sensor has wires coming out of it attaching to a meter. The meter reads the ratio of air and fuel in the exhaust. You infer from the ratio if you are rich or lean and adjust the FI system accordingly.

On a dyno you make a pull and view the A/F trace across the entire rpm range then adjust the FI accordingly across the entire RPM range.

Here is a link to the dyno of our LTR and you can see an example of an A/F graph...
The red dashed line is a 13:1 ratio and is marked on the graph as a generally accepted "Safe" operating environment. Everyone has there opinion of this and I am not here to debate what ratio is best for you...personally I have zero problems pushing up to a 14:1 ratio.
