You cannot turn off the gas. Suzuki has a different system from the yfz or 450r. If you look in the owners manual it shows it is ok to store them standing up. I load mine standing up all the time. But make sure your gas cap is on tight.

It is also recommended to make sure the flux capacitor is in its neutral state, for safety purposes. I found mine on once, I just turned it off and everything was o.k..

Riding a lot of wheelies on a Z400 can cause premature timing chain wear. From what I understand, when they are on the back tires, the oil cant get pumped to the timing chain to keep it lubed. But this only happens when its running. Just for towing or storage purposes I dont see a problem.

I know for the Z there should be a "Transport" setting on the fuel line that will keep the gas in the tank where it belongs while you are transporting it standing up.

I also read in an atv mag recently that Do Not put it in gear while transporting. To use a zip tie on the front brakes. Not good for the transmission. I do not know how you will get arond this, standing the LTR up.

I don't have an LTR so I'm only speaking from my experiences (YFZ and Predator), but when you stand it up, youneed to clamp off the crank-case breather or all of your oil will end up in your airbox or on the ground. After you put it back on all fours you need to let it sit for a couple of minutes before you start it to let all the oil settle back down. As faras wheelies go... unless your gonna be riding a wheelie for a mile it's not a problem, nothing to worry about...

The reason for not putting it in gear is that as it rocks back and forth during transport the tranny actually moves the piston back and forth in the same spot since the quad can't move. So you end up wearing a little spot in the wall of your cylinder from the back and forth rocking. In a 2 stroke it will jack your compression. Not sure if it will mess up a 4 stroke but I don't put it in gear just in case ;)

If Im going to transport the quad I usually empty out all of the gas anyways. On your Z all you have to do is remove the hose running from the gas tank to the carb on the carb side and turn the knob to prime. Be careful to not turn it to prime before you have the little tube ready to flow into your gas cannister.
