I was reading the august edition of dirt wheels and it has the project ltr in it, they put a "$99 power now unit" on which they say gives crisper power responce and more power at the crack of the throttle. I have never herd of this and was wondering if anybody could give some info onit, and the way they talk it up it sounds like a pretty good investment,
thanks for any info, i thought it sounded pretty cool, :D

Sounds like the tornado deal for cars. They also showed a pic of the frames broke and told everybody to contact there local welder to fix the frame. To bad it's under warranty, feel bad for the person who reads that and pays to get it fixed. I prefer the it breaks get a new frame myself.

I understand their concept and it would work on a flatslide carb(that is why it worked on the yz250f), but I don't see it doing ANTHING for a butterfly TB.

Hmmm...maybe it's just me BUT..I clicked the "Models" tab and there doesn't seem to be anything for the LTR...also the ad talks about carbs and venturis...I'm not sure there's venturi's on the throttle body of a FI set up....but then again...maybe it's just me

Doesn't matter if it's carb or FI.........The thing works because at low RPM air in the induction system tends to flutter and swirl a bit and this thing straightens the flow of air just before it hits the throttle body, so you can see how it could improve responce.......but.......once the motor gets over its usual bottom end hesitation all this thing is, is another blockage restricting flow to the motor. IOM not worth it.

I didn't say FI vs. carb... I said flatslide vs butterfly. At half throttle with a flatslide, there is a swirl like you said as all the air hits the flatslide. With the PN in place, it actually prevents the swirl as it sort of makes a seal at the slide and PN keeping the air from swirling down at half throttle or less. With a butterfly(our throttle body), it is making a seal no where and not really straighting or preventing swirl at any point. We both agree that it is a waste, but it is more of a waste on the LTR.

Here the red lines are supposed to be the PN and you can see it stopping swirl at 1/2 throttle opening or less..... can't imagine it would do much on a butterfly.

I looked at it also after reading Dirt Wheels but I always look for an ad being displayed in the magazine when they evaluate the product. Seems to always be a coincedence, hmmm....

Dirt Wheels is always taking credit for developing something also, most recently did you read where one of the writers claimed that they felt that Bombardier back when theystarting producing ATV's that they should call them Can-Am like their bike line. He stuck his drawing in there to show us that he had proof!

Anyway thanks for the good discussion on the Scary Fast product as that makes sense and probably saved a few of us some cash.

I agree I aint gonna put no extra plates in my doublepumper on my car. You'd think the computer would be going hey he's got less air so I should give him less fuel. Hey maybe NASCAR should try it for a newer style restirctor plate :p. Better throttle response and still no top end horse power sweeeeet! DEI would love it hey maybe they already tried when in cup racing cause they have getting there asses kicked.lol
