I bought a denton rebuildable for my sons ltr, 3 weeks later it was blown. I called denton direct and he told me no problem send it back and he would rebuild it " for about 55 dollars plus shipping". He also said we might have got some dirt on the shaft and it blew out the seal, Its on a quad of coarse we got dirt on the shaft. Thats a third of what i have in it. Im not gonna pay 55 dollars every 3 weeks. Has anyone else had this problem with there Dentons. HELP

he said he got him the rebuildable one...FYI...I don't have a rebuildable one, I actually got a used one because I wanted to see what the stabalizer hype was about without spending a whole lot. I don't know how long they had it but I've had mine MUDDY and no problems...BUT I also have my headlight on so it is protected, I don't think the previous owner used a headlight thou.

I heard from somebody that the non rebiuldable ones are made better? Some one here also said he had both kind and the rebiuldable one already wore out and the other one is still going.

I can't remember for sure, but don't you have a Denton non-rebuildable stabalizer. If so, did you buy it because you thought it was better than the rebuildable ones, and how has it performed so far? :)

I have had the rebuilable Denton on the ltr for only about a month and a half no problems yet. I also have one on a z 400 for over 3 years and have had no blown seals but it is ready for a rebuild the oil is thin and have had to click it all the way to its stiffest.

Some times if the install is done wrong the shaft bows/binds and presses hard on one side the seal or o-ring and wears it out fast. Not saying this is your case bit somthing I have noticed on others.

I stopped by Denton in Riverside recently to pick up a rebuildable stabilizer for my wife's Z400. I asked one of their riders why anyone would buy a non-rebuildable and he told me that all of their guys ride the non-rebuildable. I asked him if it was better and he said they all preferred it, but that I should go with the rebuildable just in case I ever need a rebuild.

He also said the rebuild kit was $25 or $30.

I called denton 2 weeks ago because I bought a used ebay one the guy told me it was rebuildable and when I called denton they told me the black ones are not REb......I needed a LTR collar for my stem because I did not use the search button, hear first and missed the piece on trx steering dia. does not fit the LTR. Only the yfz does so I ordered the clamp and got it ground in 5 days..... When I asked him on the phone the rebuilding, done by denton was $58.65 plus shipping. :fro:

My dad has a denton on his z400. I turn it all the way soft then hard and i cant even tell a difference. I dunno if theres something wrong with it or what but it doesnt seem to go stiff enough.

Well hopefully mine lasts awhile since I didn't get any instructions on installing it.

From my experince with both types, the black non rebuildable unit has a wider range of adjustment. Both work great, I'm still running my rebuildable unit on my race quad now into it's third season.

The black units are made by NKS, and the alloy units by Showa. Everyone who offers these types are using the same dampers with there own mountings basically.

Ace, there is a big difference between the softest and hardest settings on our new Denton. Your pops is probably due for a rebuild.

So far, I really like the Denton on my wife's z400. It has a LT suspension and, at the hardest setting, it made it feel much more stable and less twitchy. Now we'll see if it holds up.
