Dasa Pipe Installation

2676 Views 43 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  quadmonkey
I just received my dasa pipe from Fuel, and it looks very cool, but I want to be sure I am installing it correctly. First, where the header goes into the cylinder, how far does the header go into the cylinder, and furthermore, how much thread does anyone else with the Dasa have showing after the nuts? I have the nuts tight and there is no threads protruding after the nuts, but I can see the tip of the bolts barely coming through and the collar seems to be slightly bending inward.
Secondly, where the header and the second piece of tubing meet, should there be a clamp over the connection? I don't believe so, but want to be sure.
Thanks for any help.

It will slide right into the head. You will use your stock gasket. Once it is tight you will see about 2 or 3 threads. You will not need a clamps where the header and mid pipe meet. It is a very tight fit and once the pipe is fully installed it will not go anywhere.

[attachmentid=1795]Does this look about right?
Looks ok ... you should be able to get a couple more turns though.

The collar is already bowing, I am afraid if I tighten it any more, I will either snap the collar or the bolt. The tip of the bolt is protruding through the end of the nut right now and tha collar has a lot os stress on it. I don't want it wrong, but I also don't want to do some damage by over-tightening it.
Did you use lock tight? As long as it is tight you are good. You dont want to over tighten it thats for sure.

I used the red locktite, so it should not come loose.
red > blue :p
if you never want a bolt/nut to come loos again use 1 drop of Iodine, like you use on cuts.......it will NEVER come out again!
i don't have any bolts to use loctite on :(
Red > Blue, Red is faster, locks tigher, Red Power!
I am still not feeling like the Dasa Pipe installed right. Can someone with the Dasa on their LT-R tell me if the collar is flush with the mount on the cylinder? Mine is about 1/8" away and the press ring (if that is what it is called) on the header is not allowing the collar to go any tighter. I would think that it should be flush, but the header does not want to go any farther inside the cylinder.
Have had many pipes, and none of the "press rings" touch the head exhaust port collar. About 1/8-1/4" away.
The "press ring" is 1/2" from the cylinder, and the header collar is after that, so it is roughly 1/2" from the cylinder and about 1/8" from the mounting flange on the cylinder. It seems that it should be flush, like the stock one was. Am I wrong?
My CT Sonic on the LTZ and RS-5 on the LTZ are just like you have described. So maybe we are both screwed up. I dont think so though
Yes you are wrong...the press ring sits out away from the cylinder head...it does NOT mount exactly like the stock one...and there ya go...
Excellent! I am ready to ride then. I just picked up the crate quad on Tuesday and the Dasa Pipe arrived on Wednesday, so I installed the Trinity Intake and added a couple of breather holes to the airbox, then I installed the Dasa and finally the PIM. The bike is back together and ready for a break-in ride. Then off to Glamis to meet up with everyone on 29th.
Right on bro...can't wait to meet ya... :D

You don't wast any time...Buckeye, Goodyear, Litchfield, Avondale, and Phoenix will be in the house. For those of you who don't know, they are all like 5-10 miles apart. Glamis, here we come.
