Hey guys...new idea several users helped develop - this will grow with time and hopefully end up with enough maps listed to suit most people's needs (or at least help provide a good starting point). This may take a while to develop, but I believe this should prove to be a great help to EVERYONE a ways down the road. If any of you have developed or had maps tuned for your custom setup via a PIM/Fimak combo we would greatly appreciate it if you would post your map here as well as the following information regarding your setup:

Please copy/paste this list and fill in your information:

Exhaust:
Intake:
Airbox:
Piston (Compression):
Cams:
Valves:
Fuel:
A/F ratio:
Elevation:
Approximate Temp:

I know that I could use some help in this area.. I just installed Max Power RPM's 498 ice cube big bore kit with a wiseco 13.5:1 100.5mm piston. I am running a full RS-5 no sparky, Pro-Flo K&N intake, no lid but also no mods to the box. I have my PIM set on map #2. Let me tell you that this is too lean for my current set up. No mods have been done to the head/cams. only a increase in bore and compression. Map #2 had me running a bit rich before the BB install, so anyone who is worried about running lean because of glowing exhaust or backfiring needs not to worry because mine did both of those as does all others that I have asked about and my plug proved that fact. However this is not the case now, I put in a new plug before I fired up this 498cc beast. I fallowed the proceedures that max power recommends.. then later ran it up the street a few times driving nicely.. pulled my plug and i saw some white, not enough to be scared about about thus far but I wouldnt even consider putting it on a dyno this lean! What I am going to try is to do a "block edit" with the FIMAK to pretty much the entire operable RPM and TP range by increasing map #2's settings by a 10% richer fuel mixture. I figure I increased the overall C.C.'s by roughly 10.6% so why not give it a shot? if anyone has a better Idea please dont hessitate to inform me! I have asked everyone.. no one has helped.. by the way Max Power uses the power commander!

Sorry I don't have an answer for ya but I am very interested in your outcome. I'm looking at getting one of these kits come spring. A few questions for ya. How was their service? Who installed it? What kind of fuel did they tell ya to run in it? Did they give ya a ball park figure on HP? Sorry for the 3rd degree here but its been tough tracking down people that have this kit. Thanks in advance.

Okidoki.. the block edit idea didnt do exactly as I'd hoped. what it did do is increase the entire block by 10% from a 0.. I was hopeing that it would take map #2 and add a +10 to its presets, so I had to manually go back after the block edit and add or subtract from +10 to map #2's presets.. the outcome was a quicker start, a much better idle(after adjusting) than it was and my head pipe after about 2 minutes @ idle is glowing as it was before the cube install.. (about the first 4-6" of head pipe, not 1/2 of it like before making any changes).... conclusion!!! I believe I have a good starting point! I will need to ride it a few times to tell for sure, but at least I know I'm on the rich side if anything..(hopefully and mathmatically speaking) Just thought I'd share this info that seems to be so TOP SECRET!!! the PIM and FIMAK are the best way for your mods or if you just want absolute peak performance, unfortunately with 200+ available RPM/TP setting points with a + or - variable of 20% in fuel may make some go to the easier tuners!
As far as Max Power is concerned they have given me nothing but the best treatment, as far as fuel with the 13.5 I am starting with VP 100.. they use c12 and pump 50/50 like everyone else. 100 octane they told me should be fine!.. I installed the B.B. kit.. fun fun fun!! get, or print out the service manual (for free) on this forum. If you have tools and time it is a blast, not too hard at all! as far as HP??? you can email or call them and they will send you the dyno report.. I personally am hoping for 60 - 65??? but who knows?? all dynos are different and this LT-R498 is along way away from being dialed in. Maybe next week my buddy @ K&TPerformance can get it on the dyno? right now I'm more worried about getting a good A/F mixture, running temp and a half decent color plug after a few easy runs!! Last thing I want to do is to put it on a dyno running lean! take care, and any input would be greatly appreciated!! I'd love to hear from a tech @ Yoshimura.. sent them a email about 2 weeks ago?? NOT VERY IMPRESSED WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT! Then again no one seems to want to venture into this domain???? I am a loner, what else can I say!

You sound very knowledgeable and it's cool that you are reporting back with your results on the PIM/FIMAK. But I'm a firm believer that you don't gain much with bore alone. You did up the compression which always helps, but I think that you really need better cams to compliment your big bore and high compression. Otherwise the results might be a little disappointing. Alrighty then!
I finally got my innovative wideband M1 unit installed.. I ran my ltr just for a quick couple of minutes and recorded the A/F data with the M1.. I'm totally safe with my mathmatically designed map because my lowest point was 11.8 and my highest was 22.. basically after I re-played the run on my computer it looked a bit spikey in a few areas and I'm sure they were on the off throttle RPM's.. my overall average was just a hair under 14:1..
I have alot more tinkering and reading (or the other way around) to do.. its a bit tricky looking at the M1 unit for A/F and Lamda and at the same time looking at the FIMAK for RPM, T.P., and Fuel %.. plus you have to hold the throttle and make adjustments all at the same time... people have no fear.. it might take time, not a whole lot, but a week or so and I will have it nailed as close as I can... overall I have to say that the performance wise I'm inpressed.. the plug showed me that I am infact on the rich side so I feel safe (plug looks identical to how my original one did with the PIM on #2 before the addition of the big bore kit)
So if you have the same set up as I do and are conserned about a starting point with your new Big Bore kit you can feel safe with doing as I did because I promise you'll be on the rich side! I still am waiting for my air box eleminator kit from FUEL ATV, and also my Mid/High cams from max RPM, so I am not going to go crazy with dialing it in unitl these other crucial items are installed. I will tinker a bit and try to get rid of those spikes, so I can learn more about my new equipment.. its all good.. and it runs really, really good!
take care..

Just installed FUEL's intake kit and did a run with my wideband.. it took my average AFR from 14:1 to 13:1..?? thought it would raise it.. mind you this was the overall average! still had my peaks and valleys. alot more work to be done.

i think you need to have someone help you. Sounds to me like you need it. Dont even think of tuning off of an average. BOOM! Tune per rpm all the way through the range. Start down low and go up from there.

You don't necessarily want it to go up. You merely want it to be as flat as possible. Generally, in between 13 and 14. Anything below or above will probably need some adjusting.[/b]

I meant in the rpm band, not afr's. LOL

Driver311... I do know what I am doing! I am doing something with my LTR that no one can offer me any advice for, what have you done with your LTR besides the few mods listed.. are you running a PIM with a custom made map by you? have you added a big bore kit like me and have it close to being dialed in? are you sharing what you have done step by step like me, or are you just simply a member that is here to be a pain? did you take the easy route and get a power commander and simply download a map for what you have added!! CAN YOU?.. can you offer me any help with what I have done??? I think not! so keep your comments to your self or at least PM me your thoughts.. dont make them public!... AL ELKS.. you still the man.. I have yet to smooth out my tests.. things have kinda come to a standstill being that I am waiting on my cams then I'll get it on a dyno with all my different meters and come up with something!![/b]

Actually, I do have alot done to my bike> I have over 75 dyno pulls alone on my ltr testing different intake setups, exhaust setups, and different maps on the pim. I have dyno tuned 3 ltrs and many other quads. I know exactly what Im talking about. I did the work to my bike not some clueless wonder like yourself. My comments were to help you from blowing up your motor and not to start a pissing match. In fact next week I will be tuning an ltr with the icecube 493 kit, fully ported head, web cams, full yosh tit. and custom intake. So yes I will know exactly what the big bore has to offer. I share all my info and findings with this website. I can tell you this though if you think the fuel intake richened up your bike, that just shows you how far off you are on you SO CALLED TUNING! lol

Ps. Ill do you a favor and post up my findings on the icecube kit and let you know! Would be sad to see you blow that motor up with all those DIFFERENT METERS on there helping you tune. lol

Driver311, <_< .. thanks for all the kind comments!.. <_< At this time I would like to appologize to you and to all the members that had to read our bickering. "I'M SORRY" X's 100! BUT>>> if this is what it took to finally get some action going in this section of the forum and get some maps then it was all worth it. Thanks for your concerns about me blowing up, but its no going to happen.. I have all my meters...lol . Actually only 2. the FIMAK, and my LM-1 wideband A/F that records my ride.. play it back on my puter in real time and make the neccessary adjustments. Sounds prehistoric I know, but a guys gotta do with what he has, I dont have a dyno handy that I can spend hours on day after day.. just a couple of meters and a computer trying to do the same thing.. I am getting close.. my LTR runs very strong.. I am looking forward to the maps you are going to post, especially the one for the ICE CUBE 498 and its other mods, sounds like mine without the ported head. I promise I'll behave from now on! it just gets frustrating to have someone tell you that your clueless, stupid, an idiot, moron.. retard..ect..oh.. and get some help because you don't know what your doing! I tend to get a little too defensive and bark back.. I will keep my comments to myself.. so to every one "I'm sorry" that you had to read all that, because it had nothing to do with custom PIM/FIMAK maps.

forgot to mention this.. fuels intake did infact richen up my overall A/F over my previous pro-flo k&n set up.. this was not a typo.. I thought it would do just the opposite. It does make sense.. better mixture. you get the same effect when you port a 2-stroke right. Has anyone else out there experienced this?
