Hmmmm, would you really want to build one on your own? Chances are Yosh did their research when developing it and I don't know if I'd like to take a chance on building one that has a glich. I've done a little research on how it works but for the whole $40 the CB costs I think I'd rather just pay that for a tested product, especially after I just dropped $7500 on the quad. That and I'm not so good with a sauter gun.
Its changes the EFI from the stock setting to a second map that is richer, adv timing, and increases the RPM limit. I would just pay the 40 myself since its already in a nice package thats easy to secure to the bike.
The bike was programmed with a hidden 2nd map that does exactly what NWltr450 said, it just makes the connection between two points that tells it to switch over to the hidden map.
