The biggest difference you'll notice by changing tire sizes from 18's to 20's Is ground clearence (which is highly critical on technical trail rides!) Banging the skid plate consistantly at high speeds and you now have a skid dragging the rotor which sucks! (been there done that lol ) However I changed from 20-11-9 holeshots to 22-11-9 MAXXIS RAZR-2's( not on a LTR yet) and will never go back however my friend has the holeshot hd's and they seem to Hook up great too but razr-2 are 6 ply and equal more weight more sidewall flex around corner sliding also! There are good points and bad. Where I am there are tons or rocks and logs and ground clearance and a much more aggresive tread pattern are worth a small loss in handeling to me just my oppinion but sometimes I like 20' when I want to slide my turns more agressively! All depends on riding style and terrain you ride most. Where we ride most sport quads have 22's on the rear. My old 20in holeshots I got stuck in every nasty deep mud hole and was looking to my friends king quad and winch for help to get a helpless 2wd out and since my switch to RAZR-2's Haven't had his cable out once( knock on wood) lol hope this helps!

I put 20" Holeshot XC's on my LTR, and could never really get out of 4th gear, meaning it never reved high enought to shift. It seemed like 4th gear was really flat. I'm thinking I should probably drop a tooth on the front sprocket, anyone got any other suggestions?

Either that or go up 2-3 teeth on the rear. Of course it's easier right now to go down on the front because the front sprocket is the same as the Z and the sprockets are already on the market. So far companies haven't made one for the rear yet for the LTR. Sidewinder should have one any day now since as they have had the specs for a few weeks.

yeah changing the gears will help alot, also if you want alot of ground clearance try some +20 tires.
