to feed the pondering, I'm not sure anyone would do it.... unless they were really wanting to drop a couple pounds.

The benifit to a carb is no ECU, injector, or added cabling and sensor.

I sure wouldn't know what to run.... if I were going with a carb. I guess to put it the simplest.... If I (me) wanted a carb, I would have just bought the YFZ I looked at the week or so before I bought my LTR.

EFI doesn't just fail. something usually causes it. If electronics are bad from the factory.... it will show up in the early life of the motor. Like some of the LTRs that did early on with hard starts and flakey switches and ecu's. But those should all be warrentee items.

I did the extended warrentee because it is a first run bike and motor of its kind.

The biggest drawback would be water.... yes the plugs and parts are water resistant, they are not water proof, so don't think your LTR can become a submarine.

Oh and the very best part is being able to sleep at night..... I swear every time we go to the dunes there is some cat out at 2:00am tuning his Mikuni's...... waaaaahhhhhhhhhhh nana nana na na whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa dddannna adddannnn annnnn naaaa naaa naaa (2stroke sounding ha ha ha)....

I think you should take a look at the bad ass cars of today, and why people are converting carbs to fi. Better throttle response, easier tuned and you don't have to freeze your nuts off in the winter cause the carbs running lean.

SIDENOTE: I think fuel hit the nail on the head with the noise there.

It probably can be done but I would stick with the EFI. Seems to be more trouble than it's worth. If your worried about EFI I think a YFZ is a nice choice.
