I just got the Black Rath Nerfs and put them on by myself (that was fun, didn't know I could speak french!). Anyways I had some bolt problems, the ones for holding the heel guard next to the subframe bolts were too long and I have four extras that I don't even know what they are for. I had to reuse the footpeg bolts. I got eveything on and all I had to do was connect the rear fender. It seems to be off place place and the hole is too small even for the factory bolt with the allen head. I guess I will have to drill out the hole, I think it is too small from the powder coating. Anyone else have this problem with the blacks. All and all I think they look sweet, just don't install by yourself, a friend is a must have for this one.

God I hate that crap! The engineer that designed those should have to put them on and take them off until he learned his *&&%$#@ lesson!

I helped a friend put his Rath nerfs on and even leaving everything loose we still took an hour to wrestle it so everything lined up. we ended up torquing the foot peg posts down then sliding together the nerfs on on both sides then used a ratchet type tie-strap to pull the front of the nerfs so they lined up for the bolt. This only took about 20 minutes but all the trial and error of leaving it loose cost us about 40 minutes. They are great looking nerfs but just a bear to put on.

I am with dan85 on this one, everyone keeps talking about how they need 3 men and a boy to put these rath nerfs on  I put everything together finger tight and then just tightened everything up.....simple as pie, I actually did it on my 30 minute lunch break, even had time for a sandwhich.

Perhaps my friends were bent in a bit from shipping and that was why they were tough. I myself went with AC with out heel guards to save a little money plus I like the ugly stock heel guards. I had AC on my z400 and never had a problem.

Your method is DEFINITELY the best way to go. I tried to muscle them on myself and was having fits. I checked this forum, found your post and did what you said. Used a ratchet tie strap to line them up enough to fit the two nerf bars together. Once that was done, I tightened it even more to line up the holes up front. Using this method was a piece of cake. Had those front holes lined up and bolts in place in 10 mins. Did the job myself. Thx!

I also had no issues installing the nerf bars.

Geez guys ..sorry some of you had trouble- we built them to go on easy- but soild :) The biggest issue some guys seem to have is they tighten one side up first before the other that causes a bit of a problem putting the other side on.

I am glad you are all happy with the quality- we have worked really hard to raise the bar in quality- I will let the shipping crew to make sure they are cutting any corners-by not doing the fit test before they go ion the boxes :) Thanks for the heads up - makes my job easier to keep making our stuff better!

Thanks for you business- and if you have any questions feel free to call us !
