I know im on my own but for a beginer racer try getting use to it stock, then for corners u work on being smotth and not just spinning tires becuase of too much added power from aftermarket stuff. I'm a good B rider and race a stock quad and i don't use the LTr to it full power. I'm not saying to stop buying stuff since people on here want business, but alot of the talent is in he rider.

im looking to get into racing too............beginning class, but there are no races near my place or at my local track so i was wondering what the "norm" is on lap counts and mods for first timers?

I would go with upgrading the steering before anything else
bars, stem, stabilizer, levers.......then plenty of practice with it

depends on the track too... I've got one track here that is 1.5 miles long and they have the amateurs run 4 laps. They have us pros running 5 or 6 laps. (depending on the mood) Another local track is only about .75 miles long and they will have amateurs run 6 laps and pros go 8 but it is a very tight, jump-turn, jump-turn kind of track.

Well race stock before anything else. Buy nerfs, kill switch, CRBM, and do the cheap mod. Get some personal safety gear... Boots, good helmet, chest plate or flak vest and pants.

I learned to off road/race using trucks. I have preran since I was 16 and in the prerunner world we have a motto; Don't upgrade it until it breaks, that's how you know you're skill has surpassed your equipment. (Hitting a tree doesn't count! <_< )

Until you can ride a stock quad to it's limit there is no reason to upgrade anything. You don't know if arm pump will be an issue for you yet, or if the suspension is to stiff or hard. I don't like seeing anyone recomended "go fast" items when they are just starting out. Even good suspenison parts. You don't apprecitate that long travel until you beat your @$$ on 4 miles of quad eating whoops. I have never had arm pump as an issue, but I bought a Stabilizer because I had the money... plain and simple. :D

Yes all these suggestions are very good upgrades but until you can truly ride this quad to it's limits safety items before go fast items.

Hope this didn't come off preachy. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade ethier, these have all been very good sugestions. I just think new and young riders need to start off with basic equipment. :bangbang:

Rant Off

We race 6-10 laps on our short course series for 2 moto's. Depends on which track they run. Not really MX track though it's more of a CORR style stadium course.

1st.) Get your shocks rebuilt Quinn Motosports does it: 706-384-4795
Your not going to go anyhwere if you cant hold on to the bike
even if you have 60hp. if you dont have good suspension you wont be ableto hold on to it.
2.) Bars/ and steering stabilizer
3.) nerfs
4.) tires
5.) pipe/ meanwhile get the cherry bomb and take off your lid and take out the peashooter.

Those are the major basics now you still need minor stuff like killswitch, numbers and those nic nacs
P.S. This all adds up to about $1500

Generally, begging MX course is 5 laps. Gear that is MANDITORY on all tracks: Helmet, Boots, Eye Protection, Nerfs, Kill Switch. But I personally add all the protective gear I can get my hands on. Got $2000 in just riding gear that I always wear (so when I do crash, I don't end up in the hospital). Now for the rest of your money. As already stated, do not upgrade till you break or cant get any further performance from the quad. Spend that extra on taking some lessons or riding camp. Or just save it till you need it. It will come in handy as you will break shit.

I would say (Guessing you have all protective gear) CRBM, DASA exhaust, Nerfs, and Killswitch. With what ever money is left do ur graphics. Performance and saftey come first, leave cosmetic stuff for last.
