Atv Rider

So I got another issue of ATV Rider in the mail over here in the Desert, yea me! The thing I'm starting to hate about this magazine, they seem so biased.

Last month they did a 450 shoot out of the top 3 in stock form. They declared the YFZ the winner because it had the most power. Now I'm not going to argue this to much because to be honest plugged up the R450 sucks.

This month they did "after" market parts on all 3 and retested everything. Now for after market parts they changed the following;

LTR - Tires/Rims (same on all 3), CRBM, and uncorked the stock pipe on the MX track
450R - Tires/Rims (same on all 3), and HRC kit, Ishock A arm and shocks
YFZ - Tires/Rims (same on all 3), GYTR slip on, jets, Ishock A arm and shocks

The showed the lap times on all three quads for the test riders. All but 1 test rider was faster on the LTR then the other 2 quads. The LTR was the fastest on average of all 3.

They said the LTR was best for MX, the 450R for XC, and the YFZ for all around. Now my major bitch about this review is the reason most of them didn't like the LTR was because of the suspension. How is this a fair shoot out when they leave the stock suspension on one and expect it to compare against aftermarket? I know the LTR is made for MX but this shoot out just seemed fixed. They also said the YFZ had more motor even though they said that the LTR was faster in 5th gear using the radar gun. I just don't get it...

all i have to say is that is rediculous...you can't compare fox shocks to stock i dont care how good stock are soposed to be and you can't compare stock (even "uncorked") exhaust) against aftermarket...they should have given the LTR fox shocks and aarms too and maybe it would be a little more accurate...maybe throw in a yoshi or hmf slip on
I'm sorry they were Ishocks on the YFZ and 450R.

Yea I would love to see what the LTR would have done with a Yoshi pipe and equal suspension.
who cares what they say..all it means is that there will be less people buying r450s and us that do have them can just continue dominating :p
i-shock makes some VERY good stuff ...... if anyone needs some i-shock suspension let me know.

i got a new issue of quad or atv rider not sure witch cause i read it about 3 days ago,... and they compared all the 3 best of each... they had gust, natalie, and some other guys yfz..... and natalie's 450r won.... but they said ltr for 07 will kick ass
What really bothers me is that they claim this to be a shoot out and unequally equip the three quads. This leads me to question other shoot out's they have in the future for aftermarket parts I would consider purchasing.

Basically it damages there credibility.
I saw that too. Testing modified TRXs and YFZs against the stock Zook. Yea, that's fair!
You see the GNCC girl photos that were all blown out and color messed up? Steph Verkade and Traci?

Got any pics of their front end on an LTR?
I read those mags and came to the same conclusion. In reality, the Suzuki techs that took part in the test really blew it though. They knew that Yama and Honda were going to do major mods and chose only to do the C/B, which was stupid. The Yama got a factory pipe and jetting, and the freakin Honda got a HRC piston Kit and a new slip on, PLUS both got a complete new front end. Suzuki should have at least matched the Yoshi pipe and PIM up against the other 2, maybe did a revalve on the shocks, and they still would have come in thousands of dollars less than the Yama or Honda. I thought it was poor thinking on Suzukis' part, since this was far from an equal shoot out.
Yea...I saw that issue last month and was wondering "WTF"? They rated the LTR highest and STILL choose the YFZ? All that tells me is these people are idiots and there is NO WAY IN HELL I would ever buy that fish wrap

"Never argue with an idiot...he will only bring you down to his level...then beat you with experience"

I have the Prototype long travel setup right now. Just waiting on shocks before i can install it. I am also waiting for the ok before i can post photos. VERY SOON i hope ...... chit i have not even seen my bike for over a month. I cannot wait to get it back.

I thought the reviews were concise and accurate.
Yours truly,
satisfied YFZ owner. :p
By just numbers the LTR won that shoot out. That's with a stock pipe. Put I Shocks on it and really any aftermarket pipe and I would think it would be a blow out.

Once you start doing full engine work though they are all equal imo. At that point they arn't really manufactorer quads anymore with all that aftermarket shit on there.

Did u guys the issue of Quad where they took a $15,000 250r and put it up to a CB LTR450? Well they said the 250r won in more places than the LTR, duh the 250r was bored out to 330cc, had the best suspension, pipe, etc.

It was in ATVSport, not Quad. I actually thought that shootout was pretty good considering the LTR was pretty much stock and the R had almost nothing stock. What they were trying to show is that the stock quads from now, will almost keep upi with the fully decked out quads from way back when. I think they do really good non-biased shootouts in that mag, they tell it like it is.
