OK,

I just thought I'd start a post where we can get some specifics on transmission problems. If you have had transmission problems and your dealer has recognized the problem and fixed it please post it here.

Post the following:

1. Problem
2. How it was fixed
3. Name of the Dealership
4. Address of the Dealership
5. Phone number of the Dealership
6. Service Manager name if you have it.

With this info if anyone else has a problem similar to anything that is posted here we can have our Service Manger call the dealership that found and fixed that problem. This should help us all out as we know what normally happens. The service manager says "that's the first I've ever heard of that." If we start seeing problems in other areas I will start another post like this one.

PS even if it wasn't fixed please post it here because the more info we can collect in one place the more ammo we have with Suzuki in the event there needs to be a recall.

AL

HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE SO FAR

I was able to stop by the dealer and actually see what went wrong with the transmission. The 5th drive gear was seized on the countershaft. The seizure looks to be cause by a lack of lubrication or heat build up. If you look at the schematics of the transmission breakdown, you will notice that the 5th drive gear does not have a bushing. Only a light film of oil cushions the mating surfaces of the countershaft and actual gear.

AFter repairs and during first day of riding wining came back.

Updated.

Please only post problems you are currently having or you have had fixed in this topic as we want to keep it as clean and informative as possible.

If you want to discuss any of these problems please start another topic.

I will just add to my first post so everything will be at the top of this topic under 1 neat post for ease of research.

Thanks,
AL

Just had our ltr450 gearbox blow up, into a million pieces, apparently the first casings where week and it cracks by the shift which puts pressure on c clip which moves 5 th gear into the rest which destroyes everything including the barrel and piston. Suzuki are replacing.

lets see, so last week, my tranny starts whining, im riding a track hard for about 45 min. and then i get off and start going down the road, and i hit it hard, 3 gear, 4th gear and there it is, loud as can be, louder than my exhaust, so i pull the clutch, pull over and it goes away, holy crap, i have had this thing for 45 days and probably doesnt have 10 hours on it. so i call my dealer, RIDE NOW MOTORSPORTS.
so their saying they will take a look at the tranny, and call suzuki to see what the deal is, as this will be their first reported case here in tucson, i have an 07. i will post any news as it comes in next.

Well here is my deal. I went to a local track today and when I came off the track I went to down shift and noticed that my shifter was still in the upper most position. When I stepped down on it and it down shifted fine but it stayed down. I shut it off and shifted it in and out of gear and it seems to go in out of the gears fine. While I was out on the track it never made any weird noises or acted or shifted weird. I don't get it. So, I loaded it up and will hopefully be tearing it apart this weekend some time to see what the hell is the problem. If you guys have any ideas feel free to give your input. Thanks.

Shouldn't I be concerned for the case?

The cause isn't anything more than a piss poor design on Suzuki's fault. Once you open it up you will see the area affected. The kit will fix you right up and you'll be better protected in the long run...

Here's the step by step...

So as long as I put the FuelATV shift pin relocator in I shouldn't have to replace the case?

Nope...you'll be good...it's just a thin mounting point that has torn away form the inner mold of the case...

Kracker had the exact same thing happen to him and he's been running with the kit for over 2 years now...good to go...
