I was thinking of purchasing a 38 tooth rear sprocket but I wanted to find out if anyone likes it?

A little off topic I have a freind with a lt500. When we race I always kill him through the woops but he always passes me right at the top of the hill. Do you think this gearing would possibly give me that little bit of speed to beat him. I know I will lose top end but I can never pull third all the way through the hill anyway. So maybe it may help, I don't know, PLEASE HELP. Anything to shut his dumb @$$ up. Although he will never race me on a track or any sort of a race with jumps or turns.

13/38 is very low IMO the stock front is a 14 and stock rear is a 36. So you are going down one in the front = less top speed PLUS going up 2 in the rear = EVEN LESS top speed. I think you may want to try a 13 in the front first and see where that puts you.

I'm already running the 13 t up front with 20" skat extremes. I beleive I read in some forum that the 13 t will compensate for the change in tire size. I don't know what do you think? Thanks for the input fuel. If you really want to help me you can hook me up will a killer deal on one of them DASA pipes.

I think for the sand it would be good...I used a 13t front with a pipe, CB and Intake w/ 20x10x10 8 paddle haulers(too much tire I know but just for srguments sake :fro: ) and cursed the bike all the way up the hill cause it couldnt pull 3rd...it would hold it but would not pull it.

Even with the 13t I had to launch in 1st...so IMO, it doesnt even come close to compensating for sand tires.

It would be over kill for the stock 18" dirt tires though...

I'm still running the stock pipe, lid off w/cb and I seem to have the same senerio as you bryan. Well I bought the 38 and will be giving it a try in a couple of weeks out at St. Anns. Man I hope its not to cold. Anyone else heading out the weekend of the 30th?

Hey I remember the last time I was in 5th. Look at my avatar. That is Devils Dune in the background. That was the last time I hit 5th. Going down, what a RUSH 70+ mph easy. I LIKE IT!!!!

yeah there are a couple of flat, straight, no people areas at our dunes (Oregon) where you can keep it WOT for literally 5 minutes but my wife isn't really into that...

and the 13t really took care of the 1st is too low, 2nd is too high problem when climbing hills... stock it was wind it up in 1st like crazy, shift to second and bog... even with a perfect shift. now she just leaves it in 1st and chugs up the hill easy as pie.

mmmm... pie...

Bryan we bought 20x10x10 10 paddle haulers and they are a good tire but too many paddles... I bet 6 or 7 would be gooder for an advanced rider... for the wife they work pretty well. thinking about going to a 21" pretty soon for better floatation...

take care

Remember it take 4up in the rear to equal one down in the front. So going up two would not be that drastic.

I cant launch well in second gear i am going to do a clutch and 13/38 i think that should help things.

Yeah...I actually just picked up some 21x12x8 6 paddle Brats....so Im hopin the will help out with the top end pull up a hill.

Believe it or not they are actually about a 1/4 shorter that the 20x10x10 Haulers and have to be 8-10lbs lighter for both tires...

The sprocket that I got was from sprocket specialist. Just picked it up from my local dealer. They always give me the good guy discount. If this is a good gearing combo for me I will probably pick up the sidewinder next. The sprocket specialist is aluminum so it probably won't last to long. Well hopefully long enough that I can ask Santa for the sidewinder.

Iam running 20/10/10- 8 paddle haulers with 13/39 gearing, bike has lid off ,trinity intake,cb, yosh pipe i think it is as close to perfect as possible.rode this set up at coos bay dunes for labor day. It was as fast as anything else and still lots of 5th gear meaning bye bye yfz and trx , ps you also need a longer chain.A off topic question is there any performance gain with my motor set up going from cb to pim.

Hey guys thanks for all the input. I'm glad to hear that others have done well with this setup. Now I guess I need to go get some 6 paddle skats. I knew I should'nt have got the eight paddles. Who says 8>6

You might want to recalculate...pretty sure 1 in the front is closer to 3 in the rear.
