I have ruined 2 stock air filters during cleaning. The material at the base of the filter cracks through. I have owned MANY bikes, and have never ruined a filter during service. I am going to buy a twin air, or uni, if they are available.
Is anyone else having trouble with the stock filter?

Mine has no issues at all, because its sitting on a shelf in my garage. Scrap the foamy and get the Trinity Proflo with the K&N, totally worth it.

K&N doesn't filter the small particles like others, mount a uni as soon as possible. :)

My filter did the same thing, it has a tear by the end of it, i know it wasn't from mishandling it cause i've had several bikesand had never torn a filter.

There's a reason the K&N's make a bit more power...and it's because they let EVERYTHING through

Ok I can't say everything, but we ran some controlled experiments...they do let alot of smaller dust through.

I'm running the Pro-Flow from Trinity. If any of you are waiting? They are in. The kit does come with a "outerwears" over the K&N. I hope this knocks down some of the fine stuff. I never had any problems with K&N on any of my 1/4 cars BUT...I have heard that rumor before...and more than once.
I'm not really worried because I bought a white LTR...I heard they are tougher than the yellow ones... :p

lets more particles in- k&N or torn foam filter? I never torn a k&n while cleaning it or ever had to replace one. Seems like it saves you money in the long run. I'm just not into cleaning the foam filter that often it's too sticky, and it's so easy to maintain a k&n.
