I'm getting prepped for a trinity air filter kit. In the meantime, this bracket should work on my current setup. The air temp sensor will be mounted to the plate(it is zip tied away from the heat right now) after I mount up the trinity set up. Took the outerwear off so you can see it better.......

I had to polish it to make up for the sloppiness of my work.

What do you think about the metal transferring the heat from the exhaust?

I do see what you're saying. It does have at least a 1/4" gap all the way around. I just might take more material off while I'm at it. Thanks

I went and checked and I had around 3/4" in the picture. I now have over 1" clearance all the way around. I let it idle for awhile and didn't notice much or any heat transferring to the bracket. I will watch it on longer rides. Thanks

What kind of time is a person looking at to take the stock air box out and putting this in? IE do I have to pull the exhaust? I ask due to I ride mostly in the dirt mud/water, But when i got to the dunes it would be nice. I was thinking about ordering those 1 in plugs for ther top of my airbox for more airflow when Im mudding it up.

These are what im talking about......http://www.rockymountainatv.com/viewLargerImage.do?prodImage=u/uniairvent.jpg

have good bad comments on these??

RK...dude if your gonna do that then get one of these

Those plugs are just a waste of time and money..I don't know anyone that has installed those and had them actually work

And to cut your airbox? Yes you will need to pull the exhaust...if I was going to do any trail ridding...like in mud and water? I would just cut a couple of inches off the stock box and call it good...but if you do that then you won't be able to use that cover I just posted above...

Hope that confused you a little more :p

Or you could have one of each...

Just wanted to follow up on this thread. After running the bike hard for hours on the sand, I would feel the plate right after a ride. VERY little heat was transferring to the plate. It was even less than I had expected. Also, the outerwear was pretty close to the pipe and it did not melt or wasn't even warm feeling. I suspect the filter is getting less heat while moving than most think it is. Very pleased overall.

Bro you could sell a couple of those forsure. Nice work. I would maybe cut a say 3" half circle out right over the exhaust. That would work. It looks very strong.

What Fuel said and add a little of the heat tape...you can get it from Summit, sticky on one side and looks like aluminum foil on the other...the cooler the air the better.

Looks GREAT Clone...
