The starter clutch went bad in my ltr and I replaced it and put everything back together and it wouldn’t start. Checked the timing and somehow it was off on the cams by a few teeth. Yesterday I put it in time and everything seemed well. I tripled checked everything and it seems to be 100% correctly timed. I tried to start it and sprayed some brake cleaner in the intake and it backfired though the intake which means it’s again out of time. I check the timing and it all seems good so now I’m stumped on what to do next. The magneto flywheel only goes on one way so Ik that has to be correct and I checked that it was correct by putting a screwdriver down the spark plug hole to make sure the piston was all the way up. Everything seems like it should be good but still it backfired through the intake. Anything would help!

There is inspection marks which will help you check to see if your 180 out or not. Screw driver is not the correct method to do the work on the motors.
