Most of you that have been around here for a while know 31crewchief. He is the crew cheif (obviously) for his 17 year old son Joe. Joe got in a pretty bad crash this week. He has broken ribs, a broken arm that required a plate and screws, a punctured lung and a bruised kidney. So lets all wish him a full recovery.

I know what he's in for. Nearly same thing happened to me couple years ago, motorcycle wreck. 4 broken ribs, collapsed lung, dislocated shoulder, pnuemothorax (means they cut you open with no anesthesia and stick a tube inside you to suck out blood and air). 2 things to watch out for. Clean the chest tube opening. Can easily get infected and can lead to pnumonia and sepsis (it happened to me). And make sure he is doing his breathing exercises even though it hurts like a mother. I hope your son is doing ok. If there is anything I can do to help, send me a PM and I'll get it done for you and your family.

Best of wishes and good luck w/ the recovery. I know it sucks (trust me) but recovery is a huge part of serious soil sampling, so take your time and listen to your docs! They (usually) know their chit! Anybody know when, where and how this happened????

Joe was racing in Moberly, MO at HLR Motorsports. It was the third day of races at an all quad weekend. Saturday was TT, Sunday MX and TT Scrambles on Monday. On Monday's main, Joe was going into the first corner on the holeshot and got his wheel on the quad in front of him and it threw one side of his quad into the air and ejected Joe. Then his quad flew up into the air and landed on Joe and bounced away. Then another rider ran over him hard. Joe says he was at the top of fourth gear when this happened so they were going fast. It has been a long week but he is home and doing really well. It will be a long time before he is 100 percent but he will heal up and that is important. Our friends in the racing community have been a great help and I can't thank them enough. Keep Joe in your prayers as he continues to heal.
