Well,

I posted a few days back asking about the Duncan racing pipe, TOld of my experience with my LT500R quadzilla -
someone asked for a comparison: here it is
Took my new LTR I purchased from Hahm motorsports today. GOt a good deal....

Anyhow, the LTR seems like a great bike, I removed the lid and spark arrestor, and added the CHerry bomb to start. The power is pretty good, I noticed the soft bottom end everyone talks about, but comming from the two -stroke world this was not a big deal. Man four-strokes have come a long way, I thought the overall power was pretty good- I may not be in as big of hurry to mod as I thought I would be.

being the 1st day I didn't take it much over half-throttle, 3/4 a couple of times, power is great for the trail. throttle response is excellent. however this thing so far doesn't seem as fast as my mildly modded LT500. the 500 will do close to 85mph pretty easily. the r450 is quick but doesn't seem to have the same level of power. however the delivery is much better on the r450. still needs to be broken in, maybe it will get a little faster - but I'm pretty happy with it with just the basic mods.

my lt500 has pep springs and re-valved stock shocks, and is not too bad considering it's 17yr old technology,

that said, even with the showroom suspension settings ( wrong for my wieght) I took deep whoops in 4th gear faster than I ever had in my life, and the r450 just sucked everything up. the chassis is pretty awesome, overall I'm impressed. the bike is not night and day better than my LT500 IMHO, however it is much more refined, and the chassis has much higher limits.

I see the need for taller tires, and skid plates to make it the awsome trail machine it is. outside of that can see the I-shock re-valve, and a stabilizer inmy future.

But I think with just a little work it will fit any and all types of riding I encounter.

No regrets- glad I didn't buy a yfz, or raptor

I would love to have a built LT500 engine in the LTR chassis - that would be scary

suzuki rules- LTR450 = very nice bike - I can hardly wait to get to the dunes (Imperial)

Sounds like you liked it, you heading out to Glamis on thanksgiving or halloween?
[/b]

I'm heading out to Gordon's the week after next. trying to figure what paddles to get.

probably 20x10x8 6 paddle extremes, or 7 hualers on an 8x8 rim , I don't like narrow rims.

I'd rather do a 20x11x10 7 hualer - but so far nobody has really said anything positive about 10" rims

I plan on heading out quite a bit this year - probably avoid glamis ( aept on off weekends) as I hate when the dunes are too crowded.

I'm oldskool where you used to be able to go to the China wall and nobody would be there.

- How's the stock headlight in the dunes?-

Stock headlight blows...BUT...it's better than a sharp stick in the eye....

Hey if your heading out to Gordons the week after then go to Glamis instead for a bit and hang with us....we'll be off Gecko with the Pro Armor charity gig...it won't be too crowded...see my post pinned under the General Discussion banner...

Hope we see you there...

I think I'm gonna have to paint the LTR450HQ sign on the side of my trailer so everyone knows where we are...
