I can't stand the stock tires on the LTR. I use my quad for mostly trails and hill climbs and its occasionally muddy where I ride.

I went to my local bike shop and they had a complete set of Holeshot HD's and only a front set of Razr 2's.

Now what I was thinking of doing was running the Razr 2's up front and the HD's in the rear. I've seen a couple of people with this setup so it must be mildly popular.

So I guess my question is how do the Razr 2's compare to the Holeshot HD's? From what I've seen the Razr 2's seem to have a slightly bigger lug on the sidewall which is nice.

Also since I have to buy new rear wheels, which do you guys prefer; 9 inch wheel or a 10 inch wheel? People tell me the only difference is personal preference.

-thanks

Those HD's are really heavy, I have the GNCC's 21'' and they are heavy too. I have pics of them next to the stock rear wheels if you'd like to see the size differnce.. 9" rear rim because that is the only option for these tires... I would go with a 9" over a 10" for trails because you have more sidewall and less likely to bend a rim when hitting rocks.

Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for anything but they
bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

If I were you I would go gncc or trac star. I have the gncc and they work great, last long, light compared to the two other tires you listed and look good. The trac stars just plain hook up great and have good styling too. My good friend has them and they are great. Hook better than my gncc in the soft stuff.

I had Razer 2's on my old Z and after three years of HARD riding they had more tread left than most tires come with stock! Not to mention they clean out extremely quick with a burp of the throttle.
I've never had the Holeshots so I wont comment on them but definitely go with a 9" wheel if you run alot of woods. These tires weigh appox. 4 lbs. more than a standard razer but they are 6-ply and well worth it if trails are your thing.
Here are a couple pics of the Z, I got the tires 10/11/03 and the pics are from 8/30/06

Thats pretty awesome considering how long they lasted.

My friend had Razr 2's on his YFZ and said from then on he would use nothing else.

I'm ordering Razr 2's this weekend, along with some used rear Z-400 wheels.

I don't need front wheels too do I?

-thanks guys

I was really thinking about the GNCC tires but they don't look aggressive enough for me.

my preferance is to go with a 9" rim because there are more tire options. and i like the razr 2's, they are slightly lighter than the HD's. i personnally have had great success with innova xtra's (6-ply) just look at (achievatires.com)

Most of the desert racers here in NM run Razr2s in the front and either HDs or Razr2s in the rear. I think I'm the only one with GNCCs, which I now have 2 plugs in the right front due to rocks and mesquite trees from sundays race.
