Houser Steering Stem

I have a stock houser steering stem on my 06 ltr. Bought an IMS oversized gas tank, Emailed them and asked if a stock length stem would hit the tank, they said it shouldn't, but that's what I got. Any one else had to deal with this? Would habe been nice to know ahead of time so I wouldn't have wasted a bunch of money on a stock length stem that won't work. Thought about putting some weld on the stops
