My LTR Stalls, Should I replace the Piston? Photos inside.

Hey , I had a problem with my 2008 LTR 450 .
The engine would stall while riding or in gear or neutral . When he would stall hr would stall right away like a mechanical failure and it doesn't sound like an electronic problem.
I opened the engine and saw that there is small metal grinds on the bottom of the case and oil filter.
I don't know what is the problem I inspected the gears and everything seems fine.
The Piston is scratched both sides and I'm woundering if that could be the reason while my engine stalls and seize after a few starting attempts and then it released again when im giving him more starter.

IM SORRY IF MY EXPLANATION IS A BIT MESSED ... MY MAIN QUESTION IS IF I SHOULD REPLACE THE PISTON IN A MATTER OF MAINTENANCE AND IF IT COULD MAKE THAG PROBLEM ?
