Decompression/ starter?

Have a 07 ltr 450 just adjusted the valves to spec now it’s acting like the decompression mechanism is bad but occasionally it will start with the button? Is that something it will do if the DM is bad? Or is the starter going out it has all the symptoms of Bad DM but will still occasionally start of button please help
