Starter valve in the throttle body

What is the purpose of the starter valve in the throttle body?.... the reason I ask is because when I go to start my 06 LTR, the engine turns over freely when the lever on the handle bars is in the up position however when you slide the lever down.... it slow the engine revolutions down like the battery is dead. Curious to see if others have had similar issues.

It is there to increase the idle speed for cold start operation.

It will let more air in and it will increase the compression. That's why when you take a compression test it is always higher when you open the throttle.

No. I've removed my 'blob' and have the plunger forced closed. Maybe your valve clearance is wrong or decomp assembly isn't doing its job. Or maybe your battery is weak.

I have 3 LTR's one of them is blocked off and never use the lever on the other two.

Maybe your idle is set to low +
