sprocket loose??

ok i juist changed the front sprocket on my 06 ltr 450 and it is loose on the spindle...is there anything that tightens it down to keep it from sliding off the spindle. The old sprocket that i had on had a ring that screwed on to the outside of it...but the holes don"t line up on the new sprocket so i can't reuse it..I was just wondering it is supose to be able to slide off like that or not

turn the ring around, it only fits on one way. It slides on the splines and then you spin it around til the holes line up. if it doesnt fit that way, flip it around and try again.

clean everything up it you have problems getting it to fit or slide right. i spayed it down with wd40 and used a brush to clean it up. after that, the sprocket slide in easy with no probs.
