Fox Podium rear spring - need advice

I bought a set of evols with a podium, all LSC. They were used by and setup for a 175lb rider. I am about 205 and maybe 210-215lb with gear, give or take. Anyways, I was able to dial in the floats perfectly fine and I love them. The rear bottoms out no matter what I do. They only had about 10hrs on them, and they are in great shape. I am assuming nitrogen is good but I can check that too. I think my issue is with the spring. I have a single spring, 0900-225-0275 (275lb/in rate). Assuming that was my issue, I have ordered a heavier spring (300) and it should be in this week. I don't have a local fox dealer but the guy I deal with was able to make a few calls and get me a spring. I had some time to kill so I called 1-800-fox-shox tonight and asked them what spring I should have and he told me 375-400 probably, but he sounded like he didn't have a clue. I am thinking that would only be if I was dual rate and the main spring needed to be that high. Anyways I am worried now that the 300 won't be enough either and I found the stock rear really well setup for me. What do you guys think?

The 300 you bought is not enough. You will need a 375.

The 300 I bought is enough, I still bottom out if I flat land, other than that it is good. The first time I tried it, the new Fox distributor was at the track so I was able to check with him. 300 is right for my weight with a JB link and swinger, which uses the stock geometry I believe. There was no listing for stock/stock unless you go with a dual rate setup. For now it works good for me, we'll see by the end of the season.

My son is just under 160# geared up and runs a 325 rate spring with standard valving. He is an A rider and a smooth rider. His ride hight is at 7 1/4" rear and 7 3/4" front with zero preload. In other words the preload ring is just snugged up to the spring while off the bike. This spring is the best rate we've tried yet.

We've been told that zero preload for your desired ride hight is exactly what you want and also you need to be in the range of no more than 8 clicks in on your compression and rebound. If you are then you need to look into revalving. This was told to us by a Suzuki team manager.

Depending on your riding style I would guess a 300 rate spring is somewhat lite for you. I am by no means a suspension guru. Just offering you our set up specs.

Also if you bottom out lightly 1-2 times on a track then you are using your total suspension travel. Too much bottoming out means not stiff enuff and no botooming out means you are short changing yourself on travel.

Last but not least if you flat land a big jump chances are you are going to bottom out whether your setup is right or wrong.

Hope this helps.
