i didn't read this earlier, but yes the 05 is the best year because it has a longer stroke and smaller bore than the 06 and newer ones so it makes a TON of bottom end when built right, hence why Joe Byrd rides that model still. I have a buddy who races the pro class at WORCS and he has 2 06 and newer built honda's and one 05 and he LOVES the 05 compared to the newer ones.
Sorry guys about being a honda homer, but i just love them. I just had to be very cost concious when i made my last purchase which you just can't beat the LTR.

Yeah, we all know that the LTR is a maintanance nightmare, from changing the oil, or even filling the radiator, won't start mentioning the more complex repairs. Honda bikes or quads have had a great rep for a long time. My CRF450, was the best bike ever. Fastest mx on 2 wheels.
TRX was made to win GNCC, easy to maintain, and is very dependable. I was looking to buy a used one cause of price point. $8K new.
But other nearby dealer offered me great deal on a new LTR.
I bought LTR because of the way it handled out of the crate, and it was only $6k new w/ nerfs.

Man I searched all over the TRX450R forums for the HRC kit pictures. I dont have a pre-filter for the K/N filter. Not sure if its a HRC filter or not? Its bigger then my friends K/N filter on his TRX. I need to find one, I want to take it to Dumont this weekend to see what it will do. I will go back to the TRX450R forum and search some more before I ask????'s

Wow!! I got more replies on this forum then I did on the TRX450.org site in the same amount of time. There is only one member there giving me suggestions and trying to help with my bogging issues I have. Man I want to take the TRX out to Dumont Dunes this weekend but not sure now, it has bogging issues.... DAM!

I hope thats it. Im going to get some jets tomorrow. I tried a 180 and 185. The 180 ran better but has some back fire on idle when hitting the throttle. Going to try a 190 and check the other jet sizes?

its definetly your jetting, but i will say with the experience i've had with the 04-05 honda motor i think your jetted way top high. mine had a high comp piston, stage 2 cam, head work, N-motion full system, uni filter, and a dynateck ignition and i only ran a 178. Based on what most guys run on a fairly stock trx you should be around a 170 to 175. If its bogging on the top your too rich for sure, and when your riding after its warm if your have back fire on decel then your too lean. but it sounds way too rich to me.

Ok this is what it has for engine mods. HRC kit, full uncorked YOSI pipe, K/N filter bigger then stock with billet adapter with half lid on air box and not a stock piston. Not sure on the compression but was told its just under a race fuel compression so its a higher compression pump gas piston.
Im going to try this set up: 3rd clip on the needle jet, 190 main jet, a 50 pilot jet and 2 1/2 turns on fuel screw. Im going to remove the carb now and see what is in it for sure.
Thanks for the help. This site is awesome, getting help even with a Honda.
