Advice needed
Hey all, first post. Not currently a LTR owner but preparing to buy one in the coming weeks. Had a few questions I wanted to put to the experts before I plunk down any cash. I've done my basic homework, figured out of all the sport model ATVs the LTR is the one I want. I am going to be getting a used one, there are a few for sale local on Craigslist. My first question would be are there any things other than obvious mechanical and wear and tear items that I should be aware of on these bikes? Any key items to look at or test when I'm checking them out? Second, the bikes I'm looking at range from 06'-08'. What would be the average price range for used bikes of these model years? The asking prices for the three or four I've got my eye on are between $3600-$5800, obviously somewhat negotiable. Any answers or input would be much appreciated. Thanks, hope to be riding soon!!

i know the 06 had rear shock linkage problems in cracking
the 07's seem to have tranny issues

One I have my eye on is an 08' Supposedly only three dune trips on it, comes with paddle tires on spare rims. Hes asking $5000, is that a fair price or should I try and talk him down?

I personally would go with the 06-07 depending on the hours on the bike, condition, and whats been done. The 08's are very bad for the third gear issue, just look around the forum and you will see what I mean. I have an 07 and 3rd gear went but they are much less common. If you want to buy the 08 and then pony up the coin for and ATP third gear set that would be your best bet.
