I am working on a Fuel Injection conversion for a motorcycle and I am going to need a fuel pump. After much time searching I ran across the wonderful pump mounted on this quad.
I already know the pressure and flow ratings
What I need/would like to know is:
---How does it function. Anyone see the insides of this thing?
---Who makes it?
---What else...if anything...is it used on?
---How much current does it draw?
---Is it reliable?
Thanks to anyone who is willing to help. And thanks also for all the great information about the powercommander and related products....this will be helpful to me as well

Heres what I know.....
---How does it function. Anyone see the insides of this thing? I have taken mine apart once to inspect it and it has the fuel come in on the bottom the pump has a screen/filter type of pickup and pumps the fuel to the TB (throttle body)....Does that explain anything?
---Who makes it? Keihin
---What else...if anything...is it used on? Don't know
---How much current does it draw? Ummm...12volts??
---Is it reliable? I would say it is very reliable.....I think I only seen one ever go bad.
Aaron
C'mon and fire it up!!

Thanks Aaron,
The biggest help was simply the manufacturer.
It looks like it is a Turbine type pump, which to me means that I might be able run it on a PWM circuit to reduce the load on the charging system and perhaps eliminate having to have a pressure regulator on my bike.
Its good to know they arent crapping out on everyone also....Now if I could just find one to fit my budget....UM free would be good <_<
So we have a Keihin fuel pump that runs just under 42 psi...pressure regulated....
should pump 83ml in 10 seconds with an open fuel line = .498L/min
should draw no more than 5 amps...unless keihin makes a pump not listed on their website.
and it must be pretty rugged....judging from some of the videos I have seen!
Hopefully I will find out that this pump is used for several other applications...that way there will be a better chance for future parts availability....or even a chance to find one at a salvage yard. Hopefully Keihin will cough up this information, but if you know of another application please post it up
If anyone has a pump they can let go let me know. Actually a pump, throttle body, and ecu from this bike might work fairly well for me. Anyone got an r450 graveyard in their garage?

if you have trouble finding all that for a ltr450, look for a yamaha raptor 700r, there fuel injected also.

Bringing back a thread from the dead here. Im also using this pump for an EFI conversion project. I just wanted to add some data to this thread in case anyone else found it in their ramblings like I did.
The pump is a Keihin type "S" and draws 2.4 amps @ 42psi

What's a PWM circuit and how do you plan on keeping the fuel pressure at a constant

I would think a FPR would be easier, but I don't know what he's trying to do, or what he's trying to do it to.
